Mary Winchester is at peace.
After last week’s episode of Supernatural left fans wondering what happened to Mary, this week’s was quick to provide an answer: When Jack lost control, he accidentally killed her. Sam and Dean learn the news when Rowena tells them that she can’t locate Mary with a spell because “Mary Winchester is no longer on this earth.”
Although Dean’s first reaction is to find a way to bring his mom back, ultimately, Castiel visits heaven and finds out that Mary is at peace. Duma explains that she died “painlessly, instantly, completely.” And as Duma puts it, “Mary Winchester is complete.” But don’t take her word for it. Castiel pays Mary’s heaven a visit, and he tells the boys that she is happy. She’s enjoying a sorrow-free, guilt-free life with John.
In the end, Sam and Dean — along with Castiel — give Mary a proper hunter’s funeral.
