“Top Gun: Maverick,” M:I-7 Get Big Delays

Paramount Pictures has made some big changes to its release date calendar today with some big delays in store for its tentpoles.

“Top Gun: Maverick” has been pushed back a further four months from July 2nd to a new date of November 19th.

That bumped “Mission: Impossible 7” from that November slot with that film now opening May 27th 2022. The move has also pushed the eighth “Mission: Impossible” from November 2022 to July 7th 2023.

The Henry Golding-led “G.I. Joe” spin-off “Snake Eyes” has been moved up by three months from this October to July 23rd.

The “Dungeons & Dragons” movie set for May 2022 has now been delayed almost a full year to March 3rd 2023.

An untitled “Star Trek” feature has been put on the calendar for June 9th 2023, which one it might be is unclear as the studio has several in development.

The “Jackass” revival has been delayed a month to October 22nd this year, the untitled Bee Gees film has been set for November 4th 2022, a film titled “The Shrinking of Treehorn” has locked in a November 10th 2023 release, and an untitled Ryan Reynolds and John Krasinski-led film is set for November 17th 2023.

In the wake of these date shifts, Universal Pictures has slotted “The Forever Purge” in the old “Top Gun: Maverick” date of July 2nd this year. Sony Pictures has set a July 23rd debut date for “Hotel Transylvania: Transformania,” the fourth and final film in that Adam Sandler-led animated franchise.
