Warner Bros. Pictures has premiered the trailer for “Eraser: Reborn,” a reboot of the 1996 Arnold Schwarzenegger-led action feature “Eraser”.
While the original was a $100 million budget blockbuster, this looks decidedly more direct-to-VOD in scale along the lines of its director John Pogue’s previous film “Deep Blue Sea 3” also for Warners.
“Shadowhunters” star Dominic Sherwood stars as U.S. Marshal Mason Pollard who specializes in “erasing” people – faking the deaths of high- risk witnesses.
Recently he’s been assigned to Rina Kimura, a crime boss’ wife who’s decided to turn state’s evidence. As the two flee to Cape Town with a team of assassins on their trail, Pollard discovers he’s been set up.
Jacky Lai, McKinley Belcher III and Eddie Ramos also star in the film which does tip the hat to the original with some dialogue and one scene involving a big CG creature – in this case a hippo as opposed to the alligators of the first film.
“Eraser: Reborn” hits digital and disc on June 7th.
