There are plenty of quirky romance films out there, but the trailer today for festival favourite “Jumbo” showcases one of the strangest to date.
The debut feature of Zoe Wittock, the film stars “Portrait of a Lady on Fire” breakout Noemie Merlant as an amusement park cleaner and shy young woman who begins spending intimate time with the parks alluring new Tilt-A-Whirl ride she nicknames ‘Jumbo’.
Seduced by the lights, chrome, and smooth hydraulics, she pursues this thrilling new and erotically charged relationship. Premiering at Sundance last year, the film has scored rave reviews and has been dubbed a blend of “Terms of Endearment” and Cronenberg’s “Crash”.
“Jumbo” will be released by Dark Star Pictures in select cinemas on February 19th with VOD to follow.
