Vikander Replaces Williams In “Firebrand”

Warner Bros. Pictures

Alicia Vikander (“Tomb Raider,” “Ex Machina”) is replacing Michelle Williams as Queen Catherine Parr, the sixth and final wife of King Henry VIII (Jude Law) in the period psychological horror thriller “Firebrand” at Brouhaha Entertainment.

The story unfolds from Parr’s perspective, living with a brutal and deteriorating despot who had already killed two of his wives and banished two others. She tries to survive the Royal court and push the pro-Catholic Henry towards religious reforms in a time when many of her fellow Protestants were being tortured and executed.

Brazilian helmer Karim Ainouz directs the film based on Elizabeth Fremantle’s bestselling historical novel. “Killing Eve” alum Jessica Ashworth and Henrietta Ashworth adapted the script.
