Waller-Bridge Exits “Mr & Mrs. Smith” Series

BBC

“Fleabag” creator/star Phoebe Waller-Bridge has exited the straight-to-series adaptation of the 2005 Brad Pitt-Angelina Jolie action film “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” at Amazon Studios.

Waller-Bridge was slated to join her “Solo: A Star Wars Story” co-star Donald Glover in the series which Glover came up with and which she subsequently became attached to. Glover remains attached to the lead male role.

Waller-Bridge reportedly had a different creative vision for the series than Glover which is why she’s out, but it was an amicable split. Her role will now be recast.

Writing on the series is currently underway, with production expected to begin next year ahead of a late 2022 debut. Francesca Sloane serves as co-creator and showrunner with her, Glover, Yariv Milchan, and Michael Schaefer executive producing.

Waller-Bridge is currently in production on the fifth “Indiana Jones” feature while Glover is in production on the third and fourth seasons of FX’s “Atlanta”.
