“Wicked” Shoot Delays & Moves To UK

The long in the works film adaptation of the iconic Broadway musical “Wicked” just scored an even longer wait.

Universal Pictures has pushed back production yet again from its planned March start in Atlanta to a June start in the U.K. at the newly-built Sky Studios in Elstree.

“Wicked” will be the very first production to use the new stages at the studio. Universal has been in development on the film since 2004 and currently has “In the Heights” helmer Jon M. Chu set to direct.

The musical is an adaptation of the novel by Gregory Maguire, which tells the backstory of the witch characters in L. Frank Baum’s “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz”. Stephen Schwartz wrote the music and lyrics.
