Will Smith surprises Coachella to perform ‘Icon’ with son Jaden

Coachella isn’t without its celebrity cameos. The Smith family took over the music festival this year, first with Jada Pinkett Smith watching daughter Willow Smith open the show last week, and again this week when Will Smith surprised the crowd gathered for his son Jaden Smith‘s set on Friday night.
The Hollywood actor and rapper popped into the festivities to perform “Icon,” Jaden’s 2017 song from his debut album.
Jaden recorded (and photobombed) footage of the performance, which both he and his superstar dad shared to social media.
“Done Dit ‘dat #coachella,” Will wrote on Instagram.
In 2018, Will recreated his son’s music video for “Icon,” but threw in his own rap remix. So he knows the track well.

Will must be riding high since, on the same day, he announced filming finished on his long-awaited Bad Boys for Life with co-star Martin Lawrence. His Coachella cameo, then, feels like a celebration.

“That’s a Wrap! @BadBoys For Life – Ciudad de México,” Will wrote. “Now hand me a Margarita and a pack of tropical fruit bubblicious.”
