Amazon Sets Bond-Themed Competition Series

EON & Universal Pictures

Just a week after the $8.5 billion deal between Amazon and MGM was closed, Amazon Prime Video has officially greenlit its first TV series based on MGM’s biggest franchise – James Bond.

Specifically, UK production company 72 Films, MGM Television and Bond film producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson are behind “007’s Road to a Million” – a 007 version of a race around the world.

In the unscripted series, contestants compete in two-person teams in a global adventure to win a $1.3 million cash prize in historic locations featured throughout the various Bond films.

In addition to passing physical obstacles, the contestants must correctly answer questions hidden in different locations around the world in order to advance to the next challenge.

Production will begin later this year and casting is underway. The project has reportedly been in the works at Prime Video for around four years, long before the MGM deal, and it sits separately to any shows to come out of that pact.
