HBO Max has officially handed out a straight-to-series order for “The Penguin,” a spin-off of Matt Reeves’ current film box-office champion “The Batman”.
Colin Farrell will reprise his villainous role in the series that picks up after the events of the movie and follows the famed Batman villain’s attempts to seize power in a city now in chaos.
Reeves, Dylan Clark, Farrell, and Lauren LeFranc executive produce with the latter writing and serving as showrunner.
In addition, the in-development spin-off series centered around the Gotham PD and serving as a prequel has officially been scrapped.
“The Batman” currently counts a global gross of $301 million.
