“Bill & Ted Face the Music” hit both Premium VOD and over 1,000 U.S. cinemas simultaneously in late August, and now details about how well the film went have emerged.
United Artists Releasing opened the film on August 28th where it has grossed $3.3 million from cinemas. However the film’s PVOD run has reportedly racked up around $32 million in revenue.
The film boasted a production budget of $25 million and a marketing/promotion budget of $15 million. MGM backed the marketing (but not the film) and gets the lion’s share of revenue – meaning it will make back all the costs it spent, earn a million or two extra, and then score solid future revenue streams from pay TV/streaming deals (worth up to $10+ million) and further home video releases.
