Black Widow Nabs 13 2M In Previews

Marvel Studios’ “Black Widow” grossed $13.2 million in Thursday night previews in the U.S. alone.

That box-office number should offer a welcome sigh of relief for both Marvel Studios and Disney Pictures as it puts the film right on par with other Marvel title openings in pre-pandemic times.

To give you a comparison that number slots in between the likes of “Spider-Man: Homecoming” ($15.4M), “Thor: Ragnarok” ($14.5M), and “Ant-Man & The Wasp” ($11.5M).

It’s extra impressive considering various key North American markets are still either not open or operating with a limited capacity. In addition, the film is also available in homes via Disney+ as a ‘Premier Access’ title.

The film has also made a further $22.4 million internationally in its initial two days of release in 41 overseas markets like Germany, Russia, Australia, Japan, Korea, Brazil and Mexico – and that’s with major cities like Sydney being in lockdown.

At present, the film is targeting an $80 million U.S. and $150 million global opening by the end of Sunday.
