Conjuring Scares Quiet Place At Box Office

Despite also being currently available on HBO Max, “The Conjuring: Devil Made Me Do It” is set to beat last week’s winner “A Quiet Place Part II” at the domestic box office this weekend.

The third of the main “Conjuring” films, and the eighth overall, it’s on track to pull in an estimated three-day gross of $25 million. Reviews have been fine, though slightly lower scored than the better received first two movies.

Its gross will beat the $20 million of “Annabelle Comes Home,” but falls behind the $40 million or so the first two “Conjuring” films scored on their opening weekends in 2013 & 2016.

“A Quiet Place Part II” opened to $48 million for the three-day and $58 million for the four-day last weekend. In its second week, its haul is expected to drop to somewhere around $20 million.

Disney’s “Cruella” is expected to come in third with a three-day total of $11.2 million, while the animated sequel “Spirit Untamed” is expected to debut in fourth with $7 million.
