Netflix’s acclaimed anthology series “The Haunting of Hill House” and the still good but less warmly received follow-up “The Haunting of Bly Manor” won’t be getting another entry it seems.
Creator Mike Flanagan made the statement on Twitter today in response to a fan question about the show’s future saying: “At the moment there are no plans for more chapters.”
He goes on to not rule out an eventual return: “never say never, of course” but adds he and his company are focused on a full slate of other projects well beyond 2021. He adds: “if things change, we will absolutely let everyone know.”
Flanagan also told The Company Of The Mad podcast this week his planned adaptation of Stephen King’s “Revival” is dead as the project was too expensive to pull off.
Amblin Television and Paramount Television produced both ‘Haunting’ seasons loosely based on Shirley Jackson’s “The Haunting of Hill House” and Henry James’ “The Turn of the Screw” respectively.
Don’t fret though as Flanagan is returning with something spooky for Netflix soon with the recently completed limited series “Midnight Mass” expected to hit the streamer next year.
