A second and now full-length trailer has been released for “Doctor Sleep” and “Gerald’s Game” filmmaker Mike Flanagan’s “The Haunting of Bly Manor,” the follow-up to his critically acclaimed Netflix series “The Haunting of Hill House”.
While that was based on Shirley Jackson’s novel of the same name, the new season is inspired by Henry James’ works – most notably the psychological gothic horror novella “The Turn of The Screw” which follows a young woman who moves to the English countryside to care for two orphaned children, encountering evidence of a grim history and entities she can’t begin to explain.
Elements of James’ “The Jolly Corner” and “The Romance of Certain Old Clothes” have also been worked into the story which is updated for modern times. The new trailer is set to a piano cover of Motley Crue’s “Home Sweet Home”.
Victoria Pedretti, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Henry Thomas, Catherine Parker, T’Nia Miller, Rahul Kohli, Amelia Eve, Benjamin Ainsworth and Amelie Smith co-star in the series. Netflix will release the entire series on October 9th.
