“Goonies” Re-Enactment Series Targets Disney+

Warner Bros. Pictures

Not that long ago, FOX was developing a TV series which dealt with a teacher and their group of students attempting to re-create, shot-for-shot, Richard Donner’s 1980s classic “The Goonies”.

Their effort soon sees the whole town getting behind them. Writer Sarah Watson penned a pilot for the drama which hailed from Warner Bros. Television, but ultimately the network passed on picking it up – finding the series skewed too young for them.

Watson, Gail Berman, Hend Baghdady, Lauren Shuler Donner, Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey will executive produce. “Superbad” director Greg Mottola was originally slated to helm, it’s not clear if that’s still the case.
