Hannibal May Continue As Irregular Events

Nearly six years after NBC’s “Hannibal” went off the air following three seasons, talk of a revival is picking up steam.

The show arrived on Netflix not that long ago where it has since found an entirely new audience which has made the property more popular now than ever before.

That has led to questions about a possible fourth season and actor Mads Mikkelsen says the growing fanbase is creating more conversation about a possible return:

Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused Podcast, Mikkelsen said about the show’s future:

“[Hannibal] has found a new home on Netflix, the talks have been revitalized…I don’t think you’d find a member of the cast that is still alive that would say, ‘No, thanks.’ We all enjoyed it tremendously.”

The actor also asked if he considered the series ‘unfinished business’ as NBC cancelled it at the end of the third season, even though they got every indication there would be another season:

“Unfinished? No. Creative showrunners always have a way to end the season because no one knows if there’s going to be a next one. So there was always that feeling of, ‘Well, that was it.’ Having said that, the third season, after that, we were pretty sure we’re getting a fourth. That was not the feeling after the first or the second. But the third [season], we were pretty sure.”

The extended gap between seasons could somehow be worked into the story, especially in the wake of the third season finale’s final moments. However, there are no indication at the present time anyone is willing to fund such an endeavour.
