Ice Cube has exited the comedy “Oh Hell No” at Sony Pictures, walking away from a reported $9 million payday after declining a request from producers to get vaccinated.
Cube would have co-starred with Jack Black in the film which Matt Tolmach and Black will produce the film which requires all main cast to be vaccinated.
Kitao Sakurai (“Bad Trip”) directs the project which was originally looking to shoot this winter in Hawaii but has been pushed back after Black injured himself in June while filming a gag for “Conan”.
Vaccination among cast and crew in Hollywood has become an issue on multiple projects but a guild agreement in July allows producers to “implement mandatory vaccination policies for casts and crew in Zone A” on a production-by-production basis.
