Isaac, Whitaker Up For Coppola’s “Megalopolis”

Oscar Isaac, Forest Whitaker, Cate Blanchett and Jon Voight are discussing roles while Zendaya, Michelle Pfeiffer and Jessica Lange are among those being sought for Francis Ford Coppola’s long in the works dream project “Megalopolis” reports Deadline.

Coppola will also reunite with James Caan on the big tapestry film with a large ensemble. Expected to cost between $100-120 million, the financial configuration of the project is still evolving.

The concept of the film is a Roman epic set in modern America and based on the Catiline Conspiracy. It will deal with the beleaguered mayor of New York during a financial crisis.

The 82-year-old filmmaker says he’s committed to making the film and hopes to shoot next Fall. He tells the trade he has some private financiers who want to come in on a partner basis, and he’s willing to match their funds if he has to.
