Singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes has been set to executive produce “Life is Strange,” a TV series adaptation of the Square Enix video game franchise at Legendary Television, dj2 Entertainment and Anonymous Content.
The games feature a universe where everyday protagonists wield supernatural powers while dealing with real challenges, relationships and emotions.
The first game follows a photography enthusiast who discovers she can rewind time while saving her best friend. The pair soon find themselves investigating the mysterious disappearance of a fellow student.
Andrew Gertler, Joy Gorman Wettels, Zack Hayden, Dmitri M. Johnson, Howard Bliss and Dan Jevons will also executive produce and Mendes will oversee music for the series.
The third game in the series, “Life is Strange: True Colors,” arrives in September.
