Learning How to Set Goals



Learning how to set goals is important if you want to set achievable goals that you can reach in a realistic time line. We all desire to have more in our lives more money, more time with the family, better relationships, better health etc. However most people do not understand the importance of learning how to set goals so that you can achieve whatever it is you desire.

A goal is something that sets a burning desire in you and you are motivated to take action. If it does not motivate you and cause you to become inspired to take action then you probably should take a look at it again. As you work towards your goals you will encounter obstacles, and you will be faced with the situation should I give up or continue towards it? When you think you should give up because it does not look like you will ever reach your goal, it is actually the complete opposite.

You should continue pursuing your goals because the obstacles you hit are eventually going to go away or you will find your way around them. Therefore most who are just learning how to set goals for themselves become disappointed when they first put it into practice, because they fail to set a goal that becomes a consuming passion for themselves. They quit at the first sign of adversity.

Adversity is a part of life, we all have it. Of course some people have more than others, while others seem not to have any. It is just a part of life, and in my opinion life would be very boring without it. Adversity will bring out the real you and make you a stronger individual. If it was not for adversity then no one would stand out and accomplish anything great, because there would be no such thing as success. Without adversity learning how to set goals would be boring, because it would no longer be a challenge.

I think challenges are wonderful, because they get you out of the everyday routine of whatever it is you are doing and push you to do more.

Another thing when first learning how to set goals is to set a date to your goal. If you fail to do this, it is just a dream. A date puts a more definiteness to it and helps your subconscious bring it about. Always remember to continue working towards your goal until the date that you have established for it. If you fail to reach your goal by the specific date, do not be hard on yourself just keep the goal and change the date. There is nothing wrong with not reaching your goal by the specific date as long as you continue working towards it.

Everyone has failed to reach one or more goals by a date they have stated they would love to reach it. If the goal is unrealistic (like becoming a millionaire in 6 months) then you may want to rethink your goal and make it more achievable for the next date

that you set for it.

As you continue to set goals and learn how to achieve them, you will realize that you can be do have anything you desire and you will begin to accomplish all kinds of things in your life. You should have several goals set for yourself both short term and long term goals. As you reach the goals, put a check mark by them so you can see the accomplishment you have achieved and it will motivate you to keep working towards the long term goals.

So go ahead and get into personal development because learning how to set goals can totally change your mind. I suggest you begin with the book “Think and Grow Rich”…by Napoleon Hill, it will totally change your life if you are ready.
