Italian playwright Stefano Massini’s 2013 family saga three-act play “The Lehman Trilogy” is being developed as a TV series for the international market.
The five-hour play follows the lives of three German immigrant brothers as they arrive in America in the 19th century and founded an investment firm.
The generational drama continues on through to the collapse of their company in 2008 and the global financial crisis which followed. The stage production only utilises three actors who play their children and grandchildren throughout.
A condensed English-language version of the play was staged in the UK and the US starting in 2018 with “Skyfall” helmer Sam Mendes directing.
Italy’s Fandango (“The Lying Life of Adults”) has acquired an option for TV rights to the property and has enlisted Massini to oversee the series adaptation.
