Hyderabadhas established itself as the leading destination for IT and IT-enabled services, BPO and entertainment industries. Madhapur is home to the IT industry in Hyderabad. The heart of this area is called HITEC City which has the highest concentration of IT/ITES establishments in the city. An aggressive promotion of growth in this area has led civic boosters to call the city of Hyderabad as “Cyberabad”.

Madhapur has transformed from a small rocky village in the early nineties into a modern IT and BPO hub. Madhapur has made its mark on the city map by having the highest concentration of IT/ITES companies in Hyderabad city. It has also become the preferred meeting place in India as well as in Asia with many International conferences and meetings taking place at Hitex Convention Center and Hotel Novotel, both world class establishments situated in this area. This suburb is also home to NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology) which is a premier institution for fashion designing and Manthan International School, which is a leading new International Schools in Hyderabad.

Top IT/ITES & Telco companies from all over the world are located in this suburb fuelling the software and BPO businesses. Cybertowers, Cybergateway and Cyberpearl were the first IT structures to come up. Later on big names like Tata Communications, Accenture, Deloitte, Amazon.com, Convergys, Oracle Corporation, IBM, Dell, Novartis and many others have made the city their business centre. Real estate is on the rise with host of many others constructing skyscrapers, luxury homes, SEZs, etc.

Madhapur is well~connected with other parts of the city through APSRTC, a state owned bus service. Madhapur is served by MMTS train service; the station is Hi-Tech Station, which is a kilometer away. Taxis and autos shuttle between the station and the city are pretty good. Many new developments are taking place such as metro is being planned to make transportation easier. Inner and outer ring roads are being developed to ease traffic during peak hours, and also to provide connectivity to the new Hyderabad International Airport near Shamshabad. The electrical supplies in the area are unable to keep up with the rapid development and so the utilities have asked IT firms to operate on generators for two hours each day.

Many important landmarks of this suburb are -Lake Durgam, located close to the Hi-tech city, Cybertowers, Shilparamam Auditorium, Arts and crafts center, State Gallery of Arts.
