Sony’s PlayStation Showcase has just been held with some major exclusive reveals and plenty of gameplay footage showing off big titles coming next year and beyond.
PlayStation is under some pressure as recent bad PR over their policies and a lackluster late 2021 line-up has given rival Xbox the edge this Fall. However, the dominant console seller came out swinging in the area it still easily dominates over Microsoft – major exclusives.
Spider-Man 2
Insomniac Games delivered a teaser trailer for the full-fledged “Marvel’s Spider-Man” sequel which will come exclusively to the PS5 only in 2023.
Captured on PS5, the trailer sees Miles and Peter fighting together until an unknown threat emerges – Venom (to be voiced by Tony Todd). Yuri Lowenthal and Nadji Jeter reprise their roles as Peter and Miles, respectively.
Wolverine
As if the “Spider-Man” sequel wasn’t enough, Insomniac Games also teased its next original game in the form of another Marvel title – Wolverine. Like “Spider-Man 2,” this will be a PS5 exclusive although it is very early in development so don’t expect it for a few years.
God of War: Ragnarok
A nearly four-minute first look at gameplay from the highly anticipated sequel “God of War: Ragnarok,” showing us Kratos and his son Atreus and where the pair stand in the wake of the first title. Coming to PlayStation 4 and 5, the game is expected in 2022.
Knights of the Old Republic
A remake of the iconic game “Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic” was announced, a cinematic trailer showing Darth Revan igniting his lightsaber. The project is still in early development though.
A PlayStation 5 exclusive at launch, a PC version is also expected at a later date. Aspyr, who handled the “Republic Commando” and “Jedi Outcast” remakes, will be handling the development for this.
Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves
Sony confirmed that both 2016’s “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” and its 2017 spin-off “Uncharted: Lost Legacy” are coming bundled together and remastered for both PS5 and PC. “Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection” will arrive on PS5 in early 2022 and then the PC port will arrive shortly after.
Alan Wake
Remedy Entertainment premiered a new trailer for the upcoming remaster of “Alan Wake,” showing off the first gameplay and the impressive new graphics. An October 5th release date was also confirmed for PlayStation, Xbox and PC. Epic Games is publishing the remaster which is coming ahead of an expected “Alan Wake” sequel.
Guardians of the Galaxy
“Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy” scored a new trailer during Sony’s PlayStation Showcase offering new footage with a look at Star-Lord’s life back on Earth along with some additional characters like an astronaut dog. The game launches on October 26th on all platforms.
Grand Theft Auto V: PS5 Remaster
The newest edition of the open-world game, an upgraded take on the 2013 title, has now set a March 2022 release date. The game will reportedly have improved graphics, enhanced gameplay and seamless character switching.
