O’Connor, Mescal Set For “History of Sound”

Lionsgate & BBC, Hulu

Emmy-winner Josh O’Connor (“The Crown,” “God’s Own Country”) and BAFTA winner Paul Mescal (“Normal People,” “The Lost Daughter”) are teaming for the WWI unexpected love story drama “The History of Sound”.

An adaptation of Ben Shattuck’s award-winning novel, the story focuses on two men, Lionel (Mescal) and David (O’Connor) who set out to record the lives, voices and music of the men fighting during World War I.

Lionel recounts his time with David as indicative of the one real relationship he has ever had. It’s unclear if the film will make the Lionel and David relationship the overarching story and forgo some of the flashbacks.

Oliver Hermanus will direct with shooting set to take place next summer.
