Operation Mincemeat Delayed In The Uk
Warner Bros. PIctures

With the omicron variant of COVID-19 sharply rising across much of the world, especially Europe, major film release schedules are starting to be impacted.

John Madden’s upcoming WWII drama “Operation Mincemeat,” which stars Colin Firth, Matthew Macfayden and Jason Isaacs, has been pushed back more by than three months in the United Kingdom.

Warners originally had it slated for January 14th and will now open it on April 22nd. No reason was given for the postponement, but the U.K. is seeing an explosion in omicron cases with up to 200,000 new infections a day.

As per new restrictions unveiled last week, people have been encouraged to work from home with masks once again been made compulsory in cinemas.

The film also skewers more towards older audiences, a group that has shown reluctance to return to cinemas even when case numbers were down.
