Plane Set Thriller Falling In High Demand

Over fourteen major studios, networks, and streaming services are pursuing screen rights to flight attendant turned author T.J. Newman’s new novel “Falling”.

The story follows the 140-plus passengers on a crowded flight from New York to L.A. who don’t know that a half-hour before takeoff, their pilot’s family was kidnapped.

Now, in order for his family to live, the pilot must follow orders and crash their plane. While much of the story takes place in the air, a relentless FBI agent tries to save the family on the ground.

The project is being nicknamed “Speed at 35,000 feet”. 36-year-old Newman reportedly wrote the book on the backs of aeroplane napkins and on iPads during her regular routes on red-eye flights.

At least two formal offers are already on hand – one a studio feature, the other a limited network series. The book itself will be published this July.
