The likes of Chris Hemsworth, Ryan Kwanten, Simon Baker and Melissa George among many others launched their careers on Australian prime time soap drama “Home and Away” over the past thirty years.
At one point in the 1990s though, the show’s biggest stars were George and her on screen boyfriend played by actor Dieter Brummer. The pair became household names and Brummer won two Logies (Australian Emmys) for his work on the show.
Today comes the tragic news that Brummer has died, aged just 45. NSW Police confirmed that local officers responded to reports of a concern for welfare at a home in Sydney’s Glenhaven region on Saturday afternoon.
The body of a man was located inside the home and his death is not believed to be suspicious. In a statement issued on Monday evening, Brummer’s family mourned the loss of their son.
After leaving the series in his early twenties, he left acting behind for a new career as a window cleaner on high-rise buildings. Nearly a decade later the acting bug bit again and he returned to screens in crime drama “Underbelly” and long-running soap “Neighbours”.
