Ridley Scott Keen To Do Western, Musical

Ridley Scott’s “The Last Duel” launched at the Venice Film Festival on Friday to strong reviews which confirmed a bloody and brutal medieval drama.

Looking to his future though, the still not slowing down helmer suggested he’s now seeking out projects that contrast his previous works.

Speaking at the film’s press conference, he says he may be going into two genres that he’s not known for: “I tend to look for material that I haven’t done before. I’m constantly looking for something that is fresh and different. I’ve never done a musical. I’ve never done a western. So I’m looking for that now.”

Musical wise, Scott cites “All That Jazz” and “Cabaret” as his favorite films of the genre. “The Last Duel” meanwhile arrives in cinemas on October 15th.
