Showtime has cancelled “American Rust” after one season after the network passed on renewing the show.
Jeff Daniels played Pennsylvania chief of police Del Harris in the series which also starred “West Side Story” breakout David Alvarez, Maura Tierney, Bill Camp, Alex Neustaedter, Mark Pellegrino and Rob Yang.
Based on Philipp Meyer’s debut novel, the series unfolds in a small Rust Belt town in Pennsylvania as Daniels’ chief of police (Daniels) takes on an investigation when the son of the woman he loves is accused of murder.
Actor/writer Dan Futterman served as showrunner on the series which premiered in September 2021. Daniels, Michael De Luca, Adam Rapp, Paul Martino, Katie O’Connell Marsh and Elisa Ellis executive produced.
