Sony Chief Talks Spider Man Future Plans

Sony Pictures Motion Group President Sanford Panitch says the upcoming “Spider-Man: No Way Home” will not just have big implications for Marvel Studios films (MCU), but also for Sony’s own Marvel films (SPUMC).

It seems the new film will lay some groundwork that will impact the future of both cinematic universes and means could see some more SPUMC in the MCU and vice versa.

Talking with Variety, he was asked about the possibility of Spider-Man meeting other villains like Venom, Carnage, Morbius and the recently announced Kraven the Hunter film.

He reveals that not only have things been mapped out, but the partnership between Marvel Studios and Sony could well continue in the future:

“There actually is a plan. I think now maybe it’s getting a little more clear for people where we’re headed and I think when No Way Home comes out, even more will be revealed.

The great thing is we have this very excellent relationship with Kevin [Feige]. There’s an incredible sandbox there to play with. We want those MCU movies to be absolutely huge, because that’s great for us and our Marvel characters, and I think that’s the same thing on their side. But we have a great relationship. There’s lots of opportunities, I think, that are going to happen.”

From the confirmed to the more rumor-centric. Entertainment reporters Jeff Sneider broke the news and YouTube personality Grace Rudolph has added credence to a report that Willem Dafoe will be reprising his role as Norman Osborne/Green Goblin in the film.

The pair indicate that Green Goblin will be serving as the lead villain of the Sinister Six in the film with others including Electro (Jamie Foxx), Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina), and potentially Sandman, Rhino, and Lizard.

The new movie will see Benedict Cumberbatch’s “Doctor Strange” along for the ride along with returnees Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, Tony Revolori and Hannibal Buress.

“Spider-Man: No Way Home” will be released in cinemas on December 17th.
