Timed for the 55th anniversary of the franchise, “Star Trek” held a three-hour live presentation for all five ongoing series on the air on Paramount+ along with retrospective looks at past shows.
Current franchise maestro Alex Kurtzman says with five ongoing series on the air, there’s no hurry to launch anymore though if they do it sounds like one revolving around Starfleet Academy will be the most likely to proceed.
Here’s a break down of what was shown across the various series from the more classic episodic morality tales of “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” to the more serialised “Star Trek: Discovery” to the more kid-friendly “Star Trek: Prodigy”. The “Star Trek: Picard” presentation has been broken down on a separate article after this one.
Star Trek: Discovery
A Thursday November 18th premiere date has been set for the fourth season of the Paramount+ flagship series. The new season marks the first in which Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) will serve as captain of the U.S.S. Discovery.
In the newest season, Burnham and her crew will be faced with an immense gravitational anomaly – five light-years in size – that threatens all life across the galaxy.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds
A new featurette has revealed which cast members will be joining returnees Ethan Peck, Anson Mount, and Rebecca Romijn as Spock, Captain Christopher Pike, and Number One (aka. Una Chin-Riley) respectively in the upcoming “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” series based on the years Pike captained the U.S.S. Enterprise.
Celia Rose Gooding will star as cadet Nyota Uhura, Jess Bush portrays Nurse Christine Chapel, Babs Olusanmokun is Dr. M’Benga, Christina Chong is La’an Noonien-Singh, Melissa Navia is Lt. Erica Ortegas, and Bruce Horak will portray Hemmer. The Paramount+ series is expected to debut in early 2022.

Star Trek: Prodigy
The cast and creators of the younger audience-aimed ‘Trek’ series “Star Trek: Prodigy” announced a Thursday, October 28th premiere date for the show. Kate Mulgrew’s holographic version of her “Star Trek: Voyager” character introduced the trailer.
The series follows a crew of young aliens who stumble upon the experimental Federation starship the U.S.S. Protostar, but they’ve never heard of Starfleet or the Federation.
