Super Mario Remasters Battle Royale Coming

To celebrate the 35th birthday of the original “Super Mario Bros.” game that started a mega franchise, Nintendo has announced several new ‘Mario’ titles for the Switch including remasters of some beloved classics.

In terms of the remasters there’s two big compilation collections:

“Super Mario All-Stars” (today) – A reboot of the 1993 compilation of the first three “Super Mario Bros.” games and ‘The Lost Levels’ with all of it online today and boasting improved 16-bit graphics.

“Super Mario 3D All-Stars” (September 18th) – A compilation game containing graphics-enhanced versions of “Super Mario 64” (N64), “Super Mario Sunshine” (Gamecube) and “Super Mario Galaxy” (Wii). Nintendo is producing only a limited run and the game will be available until March 31st.

“Super Mario 3D World” and “Bowser’s Fury” (February 21st) – The two Wii U titles will be available on Switch with an online multiplayer mode.

In terms of the new games:

“Super Mario Bros. 35” (October 1st) – a Fortnite-like battle royale boasting retro graphics. Be the last Mario standing in this title for Nintendo Online subscribers only and only available from October 1st to March 31st.

“Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit” (October 16th) – Combines augmented reality with remote-controlled cars [ both new and old tech – to let players set up races in their home.

More Mario-themed products are also coming from Monopoly, Puma, Jenga, Lego and more and several fan events are being held in September and beyond.
