The 2021 Golden Globe Winners

The winners for the 78th Annual Golden Globe Awards have been announced with “Nomadland” and the “Borat” sequel taking the top film honors while “The Crown,” “Schitt’s Creek” and “The Queen’s Gambit” scored the top TV honors.

The most welcome sight were that three great black actors – Chadwick Boseman, Andra Day, and Daniel Kaluuya – took four of the top film honors while a celebrated female filmmaker of color – Chloe Zhao – won best director. Plenty of other fan favorites also took acting awards including Anya Taylor-Joy, Gillian Anderson, Josh O’Connor, John Boyega, Jason Sudeikis and Catherine O’Hara.

Several works however walked away empty0handed including “Mank,” “The Father” and “Promising Young Woman”. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler hosted the bi-coastal broadcast which marked the first time the ceremony has been beamed from multiple locations in its 78-year history. So far reaction to the winners announced has been great, but the ceremony itself on a technical level has been widely lambasted.
