Tomb Raider To Unify Its Timelines

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the “Tomb Raider” game franchise. While “Shadow of the Tomb Raider” brought the recent trilogy to a close, that’s far from the end of Lara Croft.

Will Kerslake, the game director for the franchise at Crystal Dynamics, has offered updates about the property’s future in a new video on YouTube.

The company reportedly has “big ambitions for the future of Tomb Raider” and the team “envision the future of Tomb Raider in all its forms as unfolding in a time beyond these established adventures.”

In fact, Crystal Dynamics apparently plans to unify the timelines from all twelve of the main games to release – the original six from Core Design and the two trilogies from Crystal Dynamics.

Kerslake also asks that everybody be patient as the company goes through the development process, and there won’t be a new game announcement anytime soon. When one does eventually come we hopefully might get to see some iconic levels from the original games updated.

The news comes hot on the heels of the announcement of Netflix working on a new anime series based on the franchise with the events of it taking place after the events of the 2013 reboot trilogy.
