Around the World in 80 Days
Masterpiece on PBS has announced a January 2nd through February 20th weekly run of the eight-episode limited series adaptation of Jules Verne’s classic novel “Around the World in 80 Days”.
David Tennant stars as Phileas Fogg, an Englishman in 1872 who bets a fortune that he can circumnavigate the planet in merely eighty days. Ibrahim Koma and Leonie Benesch costar as his traveling companions Passepartout and Abigail Fix. [Source: PBS]
TV megaproducer David E. Kelley has scored a series order at Peacock for the eight-episode mystery drama “The Missing” basd on Dror A. Mishani’s novel “The Missing File”. Kelley would serve as showrunner.
The story centers on a compassionate NYPD detective named Avraham Avraham, who begins to question his humanity when a seemingly routine investigation turns upside down. [Source: THR]
James Bobin (“Dora and the Lost City of Gold,” “The Muppets”) has been hired to direct the pilot for the upcoming series adaptation of Rick Riordan’s young adult fantasy novels “Percy Jackson” for the Disney+ service. Netflix has debuted a first look at Shonda Rhimes’ new limited series “Inventing Anna” set to premiere in 2022. The series follows Vivian Kent (Anna Chlumsky), a journalist investigating the case of Anna Delvey (Julia Garner), the German heiress and Instagram celebrity who broke into New York’s social scene to make friends and then steal their money.
