First Trailer The New Candyman

The dominoes have begun to fall.

In the wake of the soft “Tenet” opening and “Wonder Woman 1984” being delayed from October 2nd to Christmas Day, Universal has announced they plan to push Nia DaCosta’s “Candyman” revival.

The highly anticipated horror film is now targeting a currently unspecified 2021 release date, moved from its old slot of October 16th this year. The studio remains adamant the film is going to cinemas, not PVOD or a day-and-date release.

For now, the only major films to open before the end of October are Kenneth Branagh’s new adaptation of Agatha Christie’s “Death on the Nile” and the Lord & Miller produced animated feature “Connected”.

There’s also several smaller films like Gerard Butler-led “Greenland,” Liam Neeson-led “Honest Thief,” Hilary Swank-led “Fatale,” long delayed Robert DeNiro comedy “War With Grandpa,” and the faith-based “2 Hearts”.

Blockbusters don’t kick off again until November with Marvel Studios’ “Black Widow,” Bond film “No Time to Die,” Pixar’s “Soul,” the Colin Farrell-led sci-fi tale “Voyagers,” and thrillers like Blumhouse’s “Freaky” and Adrian Lyne’s “Deep Water”.
