- Go to a local vocational institute or community college and see if they offer a program that will educate you in how to pass the state’s licensure or certification guidelines. This is the case most often as this is how these small colleges and institutions stay viable in a community is to offer programs to help you become certified. Discuss what the program or course is like with a counselor or advisor to see if it fits your needs.
- You also have the option of completing courses and programs online to get your certification as a veterinary technician. The online option always comes with the caveat that you don’t know exactly what you are getting because these vendors don’t have a lot of regulation at the current time. Make sure that the program you are working in is approved by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) if you are completing online.
These are the most popular and common three options available to get the education that you need to become a veterinary technician. If you don’t see an option that would be possible or good for you then there may be another option available in your area.
