Meg Donnelly (“American Housewife”) and Drake Rodger (“The In Between”) have scored the key roles of Mary and John Winchester, the future parents of “Supernatural” leading brother characters Sam and Dean Winchester, in the upcoming spin-off pilot “The Winchesters” for The CW.
Jensen Ackles, who played Dean across the fifteen seasons of “Supernatural,” will narrate the pilot and serve as an executive producer. Donnelly and Rodger take on roles Samantha Smith and Jeffrey Dean Morgan played recurringly in “Supernatural”.
Told from Dean’s perspective, this will follow the untold love story of how John met Mary and how they put it all on the line to not only save their love, but the entire world.
Mary is a 19-year-old who’s been fighting the forces of darkness for most of her life and considers quitting the family business until her father’s disappearance.
John is a selfless and clear-headed Vietnam war returnee following traces of his father’s past which lead him to a secret organization and a whole new war as a hunter.
Robbie Thompson is writing and will executive produce with Jensen and Danneel Ackles. Glen Winter will direct the pilot for Warner Bros. TV and CBS Studios.
