GKIDS has acquired the North American rights for “Future Boy Conan,” the TV series that served as the directorial debut of the legendary “Spirited Away” and “Princess Mononoke” director Hayao Miyazaki.
The series tells the story of a world that was destroyed by earthquakes and tidal waves. Conan is born into this world twenty years later on an isolated island and raised by his adopted grandfather.
However, his life is forever changed when a mysterious girl named Lana washes ashore, pursued by shadowy operatives who seek to use her in a new scheme to control what’s left of the world.
Nippon Animation produced the 26-episode series and this will mark the first time it will be available in North America. It has undergone a new 4K restoration and has scored a new English dubbed audio track and will be released sometime later this year.
