Parker Offerman To Play Kaepernicks Parents

“Weeds” alum Mary-Louise Parker and former “Parks and Recreation” scene-stealer Nick Offerman will play the parents of young Colin Kaepernick in the limited series “Colin in Black & White” for Netflix.

The scripted six-part series will focus on Kaepernick’s teenage years and early football, basketball, and baseball successes in Turlock, California.

Michael Starrbury pens the series which will put particular emphasis on the influences and circumstances that developed the social and cultural conscience of the young man adopted by a white family.

Jaden Michael plays the teen version of Kaepernick, the player who was shunned by the NFL after peacefully protesting against racism and police brutality in 2016 by kneeling during the national anthem. Kaepernick will narrate the series on top of executive producing.

Ava DuVernay will direct the pilot episode and also executive produce the series.
