R I P Larry King

American broadcasting legend Larry King has died. He was 87.

King died Saturday morning at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. While a cause of death was not specified, King was hospitalized with COVID-19 earlier this month.

The Brooklyn-born Peabody Award-winner with his trademark voice, glasses and suspenders famously went into each interview winging it. He rose to fame hosting the first national radio talk show in the United States with several million listeners.

From June 1985 to December 2010, he hosted “Larry King Live” on CNN – making it into the Guinness Book of Records as having the longest-running show with the same host in the same time slot.

Over the years he interviewed tens of thousands of people and famously took calls from listeners and viewers. He also showed up as himself on dozens on TV shows and films.
