Why Did We Make Kanye West & The Kardashians This Rich?

Forbes just released its Celebrity 100 list, and Kanye West and one of the Kardashians are amongst the highest-paid. How did that happen?

• Kanye West made the Forbes “Celebrity 100” list of highest-paid celebrities.
• His sister-in-law, Kylie Jenner, also made the list.
• They’re at #2 and #1, respectively — and we as a society need to stop paying them.

Kanye West is rich.

Specifically, he’s the second-highest-paid celebrity in the world.

Kim Kardashian’s husband made the list — which was compiled by Forbes Magazine — and so did Kim’s little sister, Kylie Jenner (who came in at the very top of the list).

Aside from the fact that their inclusion on the list is questionable, one has to ask: why were they made so rich and famous in the first place?

Kanye West Wasn’t Always Known For Fame-Addiction

To be fair and equitable to all things Kanye West, he wasn’t always known for being a publicity-hungry mess. Before he was anything else, he was an award-winning rapper and producer whose career was on the upswing for the longest time.

If we take West’s career into account, he certainly worked hard for all he has today — and his inclusion on the “Forbes Celebrity 100” is justified.

However, it’s interesting that the outlet says that West only made $170 million this year, considering this same outlet said that he was a “billionaire” not that long ago, as you can see in the video below.

While we all know why Kanye West is famous, how, exactly, did Kylie Jenner make this list?

Take Kylie Jenner’s Numbers With A Grain Of Salt

Let’s remember that it wasn’t so long ago that Forbes was under fire for claiming that Kylie Jenner was a billionaire — and she really wasn’t. So, it’s fair to take a lot of what Forbes says about celebrity checkbooks with a grain of salt.

But that said, we really have to ask ourselves why we, as a society, have fallen so low that we’ve made Kanye West one of richest celebrities in the world. And we need to stop worshipping at the altar of celebrity, especially when they’ve long ago proven that they’re just like us — only with more cameras in their face.
