Some experts see coronavirus outbreak as a wake-up call

China first alerted the World Health Organization about the coronavirus at the end of December. By Jan 9, Chinese health authorities had released the genome sequence of the virus. Experts think that, like SARS, it could transmit across species.

This has prompted some experts to call this outbreak a much-needed wake-up call for how we manage global health.
