Spurs are in talks to sign two Danish centre-backs as they start to ramp up their interest in key targets, according to reports.

Tottenham finally appointed Nuno Espirito Santo as their new manager last week after sacking Jose Mourinho back in April.

The former Wolves boss will now be tasked with reconnecting the club with the fans following a disappointing campaign, while persuading star man Harry Kane to remain in north London.

A ridiculous XI of players in the final year of their contracts…

New football managing director Fabio Paratici was heavily involved in Nuno’s appointment and is likely to have a big say in transfer comings and goings this summer.

Centre-back is one position Spurs and Paratici are targeting to strengthen in the transfer window and now The Times reckons Tottenham are ‘in talks about signing Jannik Vestergaard after the Southampton centre back entered the final year of his contract’.

Spurs ‘want to sign at least two defenders’ and have ‘expressed their interest to Southampton’ in Vestergaard, who is ‘among the options’.

Vestergaard will cost ‘more than the’ £18m Southampton paid Borussia Moenchengladbach for the Euro 2020 star.

The report adds that Tottenham are also keen on Vestergaard’s international team-mate Joachim Andersen, who is valued at around £25m by French club Lyon.

Anderson was on loan in the Premier League last season as Fulham were relegated to the Championship.

Joe Rodon, Toby Alderweireld, Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez are the centre-backs currently at the club with reinforcements likely as Nuno likes to play with a back three.

With rumours Kane could leave this summer, former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson reckons they should try and sign Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Robinson told Football Insider: “If Tottenham lose Kane they need to go after somebody like Calvert-Lewin. He is a player who can lead the line.

“Spurs will have to invest heavily in a number nine if Kane goes. They will have to go deep into their pockets to find a replacement, that’s for sure.

“Go and test Everton’s resolve. Go and put in a massive bid because Calvert-Lewin is someone who I think is capable of taking over from Kane.”
