Tammy Abraham has issued an apology for breaking coronavirus restrictions by attending a party with Chelsea teammate Ben Chilwell and Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho.

All three players were named in Gareth Southgate’s England squad last week and are due to meet up at St George’s Park on Monday.

But their places in the squad could now be in jeopardy after they were filmed at Abaraham’s surprise 23rd birthday party at his London home on Saturday evening.

According to The Sun, around 20 people attended the event, which goes against current Government restrictions which do not allow gatherings of more than six people.

A source close to Abraham told the newspaper: ‘He genuinely had no idea it was going to happen.

‘He and Sancho didn’t drink alcohol.

‘It was family and very close friends only – and they even did temperature checks on arrival.’

But according to The Sun, the Football Association has said the footage has been reviewed and the three players will remain in the squad as it stands.

Abraham, meanwhile, issued an apology for his actions.

‘I arrived home to find a small surprise gathering,’ Abraham told The Sun.

‘Though I was totally unaware this was planned, I would like to wholeheartedly apologise for the naivety shown for the organisation and attending of this gathering.

‘All I can do now is learn from it, apologise to everyone and ensure it never happens again.’

England are due to play Wales, Belgium and Denmark during the upcoming international break.
